One of Evan's favorite pair of jeans has been wearing pretty thin at the knees, and last week both finally gave up the fight and ripped into full-on holes. Fortunately Grandma was here and eager for things to do, so she put some race car patches on them:
This instantly promoted them to always-first-choice-whether-they're-clean-or-not status.

This is the first of what will hopefully be many entries about historical posts we've backfilled recently. Since a little more than a week ago we've added the following old posts:

We're Back
All right, our blog has been dark for almost a year now... sorry about that. I've been pretty busy at work, we've been very busy with Evan, all the normal excuses. Anyway, we did a bunch of organizing of kid-related things last weekend in preparation for the new baby (in case you didn't know, Steph is due to deliver our second son in 3 weeks), and the healthy dose of "here we go again" left us newly-committed to maintaining this blog better going forward. To help in this regard, Steph is going to be writing posts as well this time around.
That's fine and good from here on out, you say, but what about what's happened over the last 10 months? We've got a plan for that. We'll fill in historical posts as we can get to them. Obviously, that in and of itself isn't much of a plan. Here's the plan part. I date our posts by when the events being described occurred, so entries appear on the blog in the order things happened, not necessarily in the order we write about them. This means that historical posts won't show up at the top of the blog, and if they're far enough back in time you might have to do some serious digging to find them. To mitigate this issue, once a week (probably on Saturday, but I won't make any promises) I'll add a post dated when it's published listing the historical posts we've written that week for those who just check in periodically.
An even better way for you to address this problem (if you even feel it is a problem that needs to be addressed) is to subscribe to updates yourself, either through a reader application (like Google Reader, for instance) or email using the sections on the sidebar to the right. Here's the previous post I wrote about subscribing to updates for some background info, in case you're interested. Note that subscriptions are handled through FeedBurner now, not RssFwd, so the concerns I raised about the up-and-up-ness of RssFwd no longer apply.
In the meantime, I added posts for each month we missed, starting with December '08, with a selection of photos for that month. There will eventually be real posts giving context and humorous anecdotes for all those photos and then some, but the pictures themselves should be better than nothing. Enjoy!
